Academic Success and Life Success
When students, parents come to see me, they always ask to discuss about their kids progress academically. This usually happens after the Mid-Semester Exam and sometimes after Final Exam. When their kids make progress there are no further questions but when their kids make no progress, they are worried about it. Most parents always see good grades in exams leads to successful life in the future.
Teachers see it in different ways,
they are aware that exam is only one of the tools to measure students’
understanding towards the lessons taught during certain period. Success in exam
does not determine a person’s success in life.
Success in exams can provide a
foundation for life success by boosting confidence and opening doors to higher
education and certain careers, but it's not a guarantee, as life success also
depends on critical life skills like resilience, adaptability, passion, and
emotional intelligence. While academic achievement correlates with some
positive life outcomes, other factors such as personality, perseverance,
networking, and luck significantly influence long-term success.
